Dear all, we finally finished our post about the SHARING topic. This topic had been occupying our class for several months.
Our group has done it! The post on "dontwastemyenergy" is finally finished. You can view it under the following link: https://dontwastemy.energy/2020/05/15/share-it-app/

Hello everybody!
We finally posted our project about the impact on climate by book sharing on dontwastemy.energy.
Go have a look! Here you can find the direct link to the post:

Hello everyone,
besides the website and the tree library we found another useful way to share books. A high school graduate has created an Instagram account where books are sold at a fair price and are even partly new. The goal of this account is to recycle for the sake of the environment. The target group are high school students (Gymnasium, BMS, FMS, etc.) We looked at this account and realized that we could have benefited from it. Many books and readings that we had to buy for the school are sold here cheaper and used. We are a bit disappointed that we didn't discover this site earlier...But now we can advertise a bit and hope other students can benefit from it. Just search for "simplebooksclub" on Instagram. If you find a book you need, you can contact the admin (direct message or comment). Hopefully we can try it soon.

Have fun and best regards,
Maria & Deniz
Hello everybody
Another way to share books besides the tree library is the website book crossing (https://www.bookcrossing.com/about). Though the website you can exchange books and you can even get in touch with persons who already read the book. In our opinion it’s a great and modern way to reuse books. The book crossing website is available in 132 countries and there are 13'276'191 book which are crossing the world. Book sharing websites are very common in countries like the USA or Germany. All you have to do is to create an account on bookcrossing.com and you’re able to share your books.

Hello
Working from home wasn't easy for us. We tried to do our best. With our car sharing project, we want to show you how you can save lots of materials by sharing cars. I mean did you know, that every car is made out of 10'000 different materials? Iron by itself has a average weight of 600 kg per car. By removing the carbon during smelting, it is hardened and processed into steels with different strengths.
It is very interesting, how many things you can save by not using a car or by using a car when you have to. With our car sharing app, we showed you how you can do that with just a few clicks. It is very simple. The app could be something that could change a lot in our environment. We did a sketch on how the app could look like.
Of course, not everyone can dispense a car. But everyone should at least try to drive not drive to everywhere they go. Use bycicles or go on foot when you can.

Hello together,
we actually had a good start. When the lockdown followed and we weren't sure for a long time what would happen with our graduation, communication and teamwork became more difficult. About a month ago we found out that there were no final exams. For this reason we were able to devote ourselves to this project without any stress. During the past weeks we learned how much energy it takes to produce an iPad and a book, that there is a tree library in Hinwil and what other possibilities there are to share the books. We will publish the report soon. But we can say that it was still an instructive and interesting time, although it was not easy either.
Best regards,
Maria & Deniz
Hello everyone,
It’s clear for all of us that book sharing is a great way to save wood, which is good for our environment. In our opinion, we all should do something for our environment. Sometimes it’s difficult, but to make it easier for you we wanted to share an option to share books with you:
There is a tree library inside a tree in a forest in Hinwil. People can cycle or walk to the place and take some books out of it or bring their own books for free. This is a great way to share books and it’s very supportive for our environment too.
Our idea:
You could take a book from this library and write a few word on the first page of it. Maybe some requests or greetings. It would also be an option to write down the phone number or E-Mail address to exchange the opinion of the book. Everyone who read the book should write a few words after reading it. It would be very interesting so see how many people read the same book and you could also talk about the quality of it. We definitely will try it out! You could give it a try too. J
So if you’re interested in visiting the tree library, let’s take a look! There are a lot of advantages of book sharing.
Best regards,
Deniz and Maria

As you learned through our last mail, it is important for our environment that we immediately start saving or conserving our resources.
We want to give you a few ideas on how to share petroleum:
1. Petrol: By setting up car communities we can reduce fuel consumption and reduce the emission of pollution.
2. Heating oil: We can avoid the consumption of heating oil by switching to solar energy.
3. Clothes: Yes, there is petroleum in our clothes too! We could exchange our clothes with our brothers and sisters or at clothing exchanges with other people and therefore do not have to buy new clothes.

4. Tupperware: Tupperware can be exchanged at Tupperware parties with other people or, for example, our neighbours.
5. Cosmetic products: Shampoos, creams or body lotion could be shared within the family. If you use products with a neutral smell, you can also share these products with your brother and sister without any problems. As an example one shampoo is used instead of several within the family.
Our goal is reduce the consumption of petroleum and therefore keep the petroleum longer alive, by doing all these simple things, we can achieve this goal.

Hello everbody,
we asked ourselves whether a book or an iPad (eBook) is actually more environmentally friendly. We have created a small chart to compare this.
An iPad needs about 15 KG of minerals to produce while a book needs 0.3 KG. A book also needs a large amount of sand and gravel and 9 litres of water. For the battery and circuit board of the iPad 300 litres of water are needed. As far as energy is concerned, the iPad needs more, namely 100 kilowatt hours and the book only 2 kilowatt hours. Also the CO2 emission of the iPad is higher (33 KG). With the book the emission is 100 times smaller!

If transport and the entire period of use of the book is involved, the iPad can show its advantages. A book can be read for 2-3 weeks and an iPad can be owned for longer. If you order a book from Amazon, it causes environmental pollution that is about half as big as the pollution that was used to produce the book. Emissions for buying a book in the online shop are close to zero. If you take into account the listed raw materials, i.e. water, energy and minerals, an iPad is worthwhile from 40 to 50 books read. If you take an average of one book read per month, it takes a whole 4 years until the iPad is ecologically profitable (the older the iPad is, the longer the time span).
We hope we can find more interesting information.
This is the source we used.
Do you prefer a book or an iPad to read?
Thanks and best regards,
Maria & Deniz
Hello together
We would like to share Task 7 with you as we answered some important questions concerning the project:
1 ) Goal of the project, Motivation (Intro - keep it very short!) - Was wollen sie? Wie (Methoden)? Zielpublikum? Wirkung - Wieso braucht es das? =>Vorteile Wirkung bzgl. Mensch & Umwelt
Goal: To show, if it’s worth to share books (concernant energy and other ressources). For example the sharing of our economy books with other apprentices. We would also like to introduce the tree library of Hinwil to you. Book sharing is for everyone, it doesn’t matter how old you are.
2) State of the art - Projektstand bis heute
We’ve finished the research (Befter step 2). We already posted the Befter step 1 and wrote about our aims. As well, we’re almost finished with the energy calculation and we cycled to the forest library in Hinwil. This was an interesting experience.
3) Your next steps - weitere geplante Schritte (gem. Konzept/Projektplan, sollte ersichtlich sein)
Now we would like to calculate how much energy we could save through book sharing. When we’ve finished the calculation, we would like to compare it to an E-book. For step 3 we want to cycle to the tree library of Hinwil to show you the quality of the books. We want to show different ways to share books, so people could treat our environment better.
4) Team work: Does it work? Are you organized reg. work load? Communication?
Our teamwork works very well. We separated the tasks as it is difficult to work through “teams”. We always show our results to each other before we post them. We both have different ideas which is great for a good teamwork to complete each other.
Best regards,
Deniz and Maria
Hello everyone
Recently we had a little trouble with our website because our computer crashed and all data was lost. So we had to rebuild our website and create a new database. But now we're far with the page. Below you can find a screen-video of our website.
We hope you like it! If you have any suggestions for improvement, please feel free to leave a comment.
