Project idea: Are Energy Drinks dangerous?

There are more than 500 energy drink products on the market, and their increased popularity is matched by a significant rise in energy drink-associated emergency department visits and deaths.

“The energy drink industry claims that their products are safe because they have no more caffeine than a premium coffee house coffee,” said Dr. Jennifer L. Harris from University of Connecticut’s Rudd Center.

Possible questions to work on:

  • Are there studies to prove that energy drinks can harm the human body?
  • Do companies like red bull have a responsability concerning their customers health?
  • What responsibility do parents bear concerning their children?
  • What can politics do to minimize or even ban the consumption of energy drinks among children and adolescents?
