Power usage of an oven

General information

The simple definition for power is P = E / t

E = energy
P = power (watts)
T = time

A 1000 watts is 1 kW. If you use a device that consumes 1 kW for one hour, you have used 1 kWh (kilowatthours). That is the unit an electricity company will bill you with.

If we consider 1 kWh costs CHF 0.20, how much does it cost you to run a 2000 W oven for 45 min?

Task 7 - Real life energy calculation

Team: Nina + Elena

How much kWh does our class (24 students) consume if every student works with her/his laptop during the 3 (hours) T&U lessons? And how much does it cost?

Try to solve the calculation with these numbers:

Device: laptop
Power: 60 kWh
Duration: 72h (24 students x 3h)
Electricity price: 0.22 cents for 1 kWh

Laptop - Calculation

A laptop has always been used for 3 hours a day. It used 50 Watts = 0.15 kwh per day. The costs for 1kwh is 0.20 Francs

Now because of the corona virus we have to use the laptop for 7 hours a day. How many kilowatt hours per day is that and how much does it cost per day?

You can find the solution on the one note.

Energy consumption calculation

A PS4 uses 89 watts per hour. 1 kilowatt costs 30 cents. How many swiss francs do we need to pay, if we use it for 5 hours a day in the next 6 weeks?

You can find the solution on the onenote.
