Hello!
As we mentioned in our "goals of today", we made some researches today. We would like to share some of them with you. We also wrote down our knowledge about it and experiences with book sharing:
Our ideas:
- Libraries
- Give your books you already read to your friend
- Tree library in Hinwil (we could visit it, try it out and find out if there are a few interesting books in this kind of library)
- We could try a website out (www.bookcrossing.com)
Own experiences:
- I often do book sharing, because it’s not necessary to buy a new book just to read it once. After you read a book, it’ll take a lot of space and you don’t know where to put the book. Sharing is the easiest way to get rid of it. In my opinion it’s a great way to help our environment and I would definitely recommend it to everyone!
Research:
- Synonyms book sharing: book exchange, book swapping, book crossing
- The word book sharing was used in 2000 for the first time (USA). We guess people already used it before 2000
- Aim: sustainability (Nachhaltigkeit)
- There are a lot of book sharing websites or apps abroad. For example in the USA, England or Germany.
Pro book sharing:
- People get animated to read
- Inspiration
- You get to know different authors
- A lot cheaper
- Valuable resources can be saved
- You can exchange your opinion about a book (some apps have this tool)
- Better for the environment
- Trees and a lot of water can be saved
