Step 7: Promotion of our Project

Hy together!

Did you know that there are new laws in the world of the ship transportation:

Then: In a new regulation, the International Maritime Organization (a specialized agency of the United Nations) has determined that from 1 January 2020 the sulphur content of ship exhaust gases may only be 0.5 percent.

So the world is from now on a little bit more sutainable.

Team Transportation,

Step 5 - Reflexion

Reflexion

The project gave us the opportunity to see ship transport from another side. We were initially impressed by the size of the ships and the amount of cargo on the ship.

It was very interesting to see what difficulties arise in shipping. It is astonishing how much attention has to be paid so that the ship can get safely from A to B.

Fortunately, we were able to count on two very friendly companies who stood by our side and answered questions about less or more critical issues without any problems.
We noticed how important the ship is in the transport chain. Without this ingenious invention, fewer people in the world could benefit from globalization. It is an elementary part of human care.

Team Transportation: Propagation

 Hey!

Did you know that every day for the satisfaction of our needs about 6000 cargo ships are on the way? With them, goods can be transported from A to B in a targeted manner. In addition, about 20,000 containers can be shipped per ship. They are fundamental to today's globalization. On this link you can watch the ships live on a radar.

Do you know what the biggest difficulties in cargo shipping are? What do you know about the sustainability of products in overseas transport? Do you also know how many containers are lifted and moved every day only in the port of Rotterdam? Do you know what position shipping in the world takes?

Reflexion of today

Hey!

Here is the post of the goals of today.

Today we will tackle the following tasks:

- writing of our article "ready for publish" (dontwastemyenergy.com)

- get the feedback from our teacher, Ms. Suter
- plan the next steps

We made a big step in writing our text from dontwastemyenergy.com. Futhermore we got our feedback.

In conclusion I note here what the next steps are.

- Finish our text
- Finish the secret movie
- Find the challanges of sustanability in maritime transportatiion

Imagination in 100 Years

Hey!
Today we asked ourselves the question how the maritime transportation in 100 years looks like.

we think the ships are not going to get bigger, because in the ports and canals (Suez and Panama canal) it would be tight for maneuvers. However, we believe that the ships will be using more sustainable fuel. Thus could be dispensed with heavy oils.

We could imagine that goods would also change because the world will continue to develop and become more interconnected during this time.

The fact that the sea level will rise rapidly in the next few years, we can assume that the increased water, new trade routes for shipping arise.

Even the autonomous driving on the oceans could be or become an issue. However, it might be difficult to give the necessary security. When the barges are so alone on the oceans, they are as lost as they are.

Imagination of my Project

collaboration

I find the cooperation of the participants of my group very difficult, that the time zones have a very big influence on the cooperation.
You can not make an appointment for a meeting anywhere in the world because it's time for everyone at a different time.
First thoughts When we think of ships, we think of the weird size of these barges.
How many containers can you transport at one go?
How long and how heavy are they? How many nodes per hour does it drive?
Where did they come from?
