Task 5, Reflection - End Food Waste Challenge

When we first imagined the outcome of our project, we expected a lot of participants and therefore a big impact for the environment. As described above this was not quite the case. However, while promoting the project, we realized that another very important aspect of our project was to talk about the issue at hand. Many individuals were not aware of the immense impact that food waste has on our world. Thanks to our promoting we were able to start discussions and raise awareness though that aspect of our project, which we did not take in account at the beginning but turned out to be very rewarding.

Overall, we have profited a lot from our project. We learned about our own wastage habits as well as about the ones from other individuals, about raising awareness and being patient. We are happy with the outcome and would like to thank all of the participants for their commitment and time! We highly appreciate all your efforts. We could not have done this project without you!

Thank you!

All the best,

Melisa and Aìna

End Food Waste! - Join the challenge

Hi everybody!

We created a challenge for to document the process of ending food waste and we would be very pleased if you could join us on our journey! Our aim is to save as much food as possible in order to help the enviroment and same money at the same time.

Every little action against the climate crisis helps, so let's save the world together!

The first survey helps us understand who you are, where you are from and some of your food Habits.
The second link is your platform to document your experience of the challenge.

At the end of our journey we will collect all of your data and evaluate how much food we wasted / saved - and how much we helped the environment!

Best wishes and good luck,

Aìna and Melisa

No food waste at home - our imagination

We sat down and talked about our vision for our project and came up with the following conclusions:

  1.  Our goal is to challenge as many people as possible (we would love for as many people as possible from all over the world to join!) to join our no food waste challenge for one week
  2. We would like to create a tool which can collect the data of the participants of our challenge
  3.  The data of the tool should help us evaluate how much food we waste, if we were able to improve in the progress, if we saved any Money and one way packaging
  4.  Another aim of ours is to raise the awareness of the participants and to create the Habit of using all our Food ressources which is beneficial for the enviroment, our wallet and our conscience

We are looking forward to work with a lot of individuals and improve our impact on the climate!

Food blogging with the KoBo Toolbox

One of our tasks was blogging our food on the KoBo Toolbox. Unfortunately, I missed the interduction class to this task due to sickness. However, once I joined the class, I found the experience really interesting. Eventough it was difficult to Keep up with documenting everything I consume, it really made me realise how I fuel my body. I started to be more aware of what I eat, for my health as well as for the enviroment. I started eating healthier and feeling better thanks to that. I also ate more homemade meals, because this way I knew exactly what I was eating and where it came from.

Since I stopped blogging my food experience, I have notice that I am less conscious of what I eat. I could feel the Impact the unaware eating had to my body, so I am thinking of documenting my nutrition on my own time!

In conclusion, this project was a interesting learning experience about the food, it's origin and ingredients as well as the impacts my eating habits have for my health and the enviroment.

Project pitch: No food waste at home

We are pitching the following project idea:

No food waste at home! We challenge YOU to make sure that you don't waste any food that you buy, cook or eat for a week. Additionally, we would like for you to buy food on sale, meaning food that would be thrown away in a few days because of the *insane* expiration date or because they don't look appealing enough to sell. This way you can save money, food and our planet!

We thought of a few ways to help you achieve this awesome project:

- store leftovers and eat them the next day
- calculate the amount of food you Need to cook
- feed leftovers to your pets (unseasoned meat for the dog or salad for your rabbits)
- find new recipes to include your older Food (e.a. ripe bananas = cooked chocolate bananas or old bread could be toasted)
- subscribe to your local supermarkets Newsletter to be updated About the sales they have

We would love if you joined us on our journey and shared your experience with us. We will create a survey and insert the link here as soon as our Project is approved.

Kind regards,
Aìna and Melisa
