Collaboration chocolate project

Step 1, imagination

Hello together

We would like to find out, how much chocolate is produced in one year, in Switzerland (Switzerland has the highest consumption per person). In Addition, we would like to calculate, how much cocoa beans are needed for one chocolate bar and how much beans are needed for the whole consumption in Switzerland in one year. Shana and me would focus on the production of chocolate here in Switzerland and visite a chocolate factory and Elizabeth could focus on the cocoa bean and it's growth in india.

Because of the collaboration with Elizabeth from India, we have the privilege, to compare Switzerland with India in relation to the chocolate production.

Furthermore we want to find out, how the climate change has an influence on the growth of cocoa in Kerala.

Best regards,

Shana & Rahel

climate impact on agriculture and food security - step 1

step 1 - Imagination

In our project on water consumption and on how climate affects agriculture and food security, we are planning an interview with the head of a research team in agriculture.

we will be seeking answers for the following questions

  • Do you think the climate affect agriculture?
  • Which is the crop you think the most affected by climatic change in Kerala?
  • how do you think we can conserve water in the agriculture fields?
  • does global warming affect agriculture?
  • do you think the nutritional value of the crop cultivated gets affected by the climate?
  • does agriculture play a role in maintaining the stability of climate?
  • do you think the overuse of water or pollution of water affects climate & how?

thank you for all your attention!

kind regards from Switzerland and India

Imagination

Airplane Food: How can salad stay fresh in 10'000 meter a.s.l

When I'm thinking about our project, in my mind came that it is a really interesting topic. However, it is a long way till we have finished our project. In my opinion it is important that we are working according to our plan which we made. Secondly, we need now to get in touch with companies which are working in that specific area to make an interview.

Additionally, I want to find out how the food is produced and how the meals are prepared, that they stay fresh. If possible, I would also like to ask some critical question at the interview, to find out a little bit more.

Imagination - What does the world look like in 100 years?

Imagine the world in 100 years...

Is the earth really getting warmer?

Are we going to feed on artificial food?

Will there still be such large forest areas?

We imagine the world will getting a few degrees warmer. There will be no more glaciers either. Due to the rising water level, some islands, for example the Maldives, will no longer exist. Also we think that the forest areas will be populated by houses.

We can think of many more thoughts on this topic and there is much more to mention. We want to explore what a teenager, an adult, a child, an economics teacher and a climate physicist think about with interviews.

If you are interested, sign up for a collaboration.

Environmentally friendly greetings,

Emanuela & Vanessa

Concept alcoholic beverages

Simon and Michel

Initial question: How do alcoholic beverages affect the environment (https://2020.the-horse.education/post/project-idea-how-do-alcoholic-beverages-affect-the-environment)

What plants can be used and what does it take to harvest them?

How long is the process to get the beverage?

Aims: There is a local brewery where we would like to go and make an interview. Also there are some distilleries where we would like to go.

We would like our project partners to do the same and make some interviews.

Diverse: We will take some photos in the brewery and integrate them into our interview.

The lifecycle of a local product; Step 1; Imagination

Hello everybody

We want to do a project about the lifecycle of a local product. We decided to to the lifcycle of an apple.

If we think about a local product, we think about its production, its care and finally its way to the grocery store.

For us a local product is planted and then it needs a lot of care. It has to be protect of many damages like hail or frost and damages through animals. Further we think that it is very important how the apple is harvested, because we think, that the harvest is decisive for the criterias to sell the apple in the grocery store.

With our project, we would like to show the different steps from how an apple tree got planted to how and when the apples will be picked from the tree. We want to find out how big or small the ecological footprint of this production and its impact on the climate is. In conclusion: What is needed that such a popular product ends up in the grocery store?

This week, we will do an interview with a local farmer to answer our questions. We are looking forward to our project!

Imagination

When I thing about our project green walls for a green city, I think this is going to be a very interestign project

I wan't to find out, what affects the green walls have for our environment. I can imagine, that they have a very positive impact to reduce the greenhouse gasses. Furthermore I would like to find out, how the procedure is to make and to keep alive those green walls. Is it possible to make it everywhere? And are there any regulations in switzerland for the green walls.?

I hope in the end we can make a interesting blogpost, where other peoples can learn all those things about the green walls.

Let's find out, if the green walls are something for our future.

Project - Step One - Imagination

Project: Green walls for a green city

Step One: Imagination

When I think of our project, it remembers me of all the green houses in the villages. I imagine a big city full of green walls everywhere you look with a lot of insects having their habitat there and a lot of healthy people living in those green houses.
More and more I recognise that green houses are most common in villages and not in big citys. I think in Citys green houses would be much more effective for the air and the whole environment as the villages are already located close to the country side. Furthermore I would like to write about the impact the plants really have on the air pollution. It would be also very interesting to get some statements from people who are living in a green house or at least next to one. Do they really feel the good impact of the plants in their habitat?

I am looking forward to work on our project!
