KoBo Toolbox – my experience

We had the task to track every meal, make a photo and load it up into the «KoBo Toolbox».

It is a very interesting exercise and it is astonishing, what we eat the whole day if we just think about all the ingredients. It isn’t just the food we have to think about, it is also the whole process, from harvesting to packaging and transporting it to us.

For me this KoBo Toolbox was quite challenging because i forgot to take pictures and write a short report very often. Usually right after having a meal or in the evening when I got to bed it came up to my mind: the toolbox. I asked myself why is it so hard to remember this little thing and I just had one answer; habits. It takes a long time until new actions turn into habits so it is totally normal to forget these things if there is no routine at all. If you would like to know more about routine and habits, take a look at the article here or the study here.

In my opinion the KoBo toolbox could be very helpful for collecting and analyzing data and try to take a positive learning effect with yourself.

It is a great wake-up call for everyone who took the groceries for granted. Because they are not. Nowadays it isn’t seen what sticks in or behind the food and the drinks. We just walk into a grocerie store and buy what we need. If the food turns bad we throw it away and never spend any other thought on it again.

Because we have a lot of possibilities to support our environment I’d like you to take a look at the website toogoodtogo.ch, they had a great idea to reduce the waste in the restaurants, bakeries and butcher shops so they created an app, where you can reserve and pick up a meal or some food in the chosen shop. If you don’t like to cook today, perhaps you'll find something good in there for a lower price and a good cause.

Thank you for reading!
