With our project we’d like to show how can we reduce plastics. In our eyes, it should be possible to use sustainable packaging methods in our industry nowadays instead of plastics which is very harmful to our whole environment.

In the first befter exercise we had the task to reflect our own about the chosen topic. We thought about what would be if we would use sustainable packaging methods.
If we think about a possibility of renewable and sustainable packaging method, there is a lot what comes up in our mind. First of all the waste problem. We throw away so much packaging which we don’t need because the humans, the stores and the industry use it without any sense. There are bananas which are packaged in plastic foil, for what? The second thing is the whole industry which produces plastic packaging. We have the possibility to change something in our world but don’t use this chance. There are so many intelligent people with great ideas but that is something our industry isn’t interested in because there is no chance to make much money with. Some companies realised that there is a gap in the market and took their chance to create another packaging system with sustainable and biodegradable foil.

Concept - The life cycle of a local product
Names of research team: Stefanie Kunz, Simone Etter, Tamara Keller
Project idea / topic: The life cycle of a local product
Our Questions, we want to answer with our project:
- Which steps are necessary to produce an apple?
- How and when will the apples be picked from the tree?
- How big or small is the ecological footprint of this production and its impact on the climate?
- How do our results look like, compared with another country?
In general, we want to analyse what is needed to provide this product in the grocery store.

We are pitching the following project idea:
No food waste at home! We challenge YOU to make sure that you don't waste any food that you buy, cook or eat for a week. Additionally, we would like for you to buy food on sale, meaning food that would be thrown away in a few days because of the *insane* expiration date or because they don't look appealing enough to sell. This way you can save money, food and our planet!
We thought of a few ways to help you achieve this awesome project:
- store leftovers and eat them the next day
- calculate the amount of food you Need to cook
- feed leftovers to your pets (unseasoned meat for the dog or salad for your rabbits)
- find new recipes to include your older Food (e.a. ripe bananas = cooked chocolate bananas or old bread could be toasted)
- subscribe to your local supermarkets Newsletter to be updated About the sales they have
We would love if you joined us on our journey and shared your experience with us. We will create a survey and insert the link here as soon as our Project is approved.
Kind regards,
Aìna and Melisa
It was our job to register every meal and every snack in the Toolbox for a week.
Because I tend to forget such regular tasks, I've stuck a post-it note in three different places. One in the phonecase, one in the wallet and one on the kitchen cupboard. That helped me, not forgetting to enter my food in the Toolbox.
The app is clearly structured and easy to use. My difficulty was the part where I had to choose what ingredients were in my food. I completed it as well as possible and now hope that my data is "usable" for the evaluation.
If there is an overhang of yogurt in the evaluation, then it is because of me. :-)

In our first lessons of T&E, we were brainstorming about the organization from our collaboration project. We will work with other students in a foreign country and create together an awesome project. You can find below our thoughts and ideas. More...
Our task was to create a mind-map with important things for the collaboration project. Furthermore we brainstormed some topic ideas for the project:
- What effect has meat consumation on the CO2 emission?
- Are there ecological plastic re-placers for our foods?
- How much of our food is imported?
- How can you reduce the energy use in the kitchen?
We think those would be very interesting project themes for a good website article.
Manuela and Anja

We had the task to think about some ideas for the collaboration with a group of another country.
In the following picture you will find some topics which we think are very important for a good collaboration:
