We interviewed with a regional farmer from India about agriculture. To specify this he is from the region of kalliyoor. Enclosed you can see the interview questions and answers:
- Which cereal do you plant?
We plant runner beans. (It is a climber)
- How big is your plantation?
Our plantation is 1.2 acres.
- Where does the water come from for the plantation?
The water comes from a nearby lake which is sufficient for watering the plantation.
- How does climate change affect agriculture?
Weather extremes are becoming more common, the problem of over raining is leading to a major set back in the yield.
- In your opinion, how does climate affect food security?
when climate affect agriculture it in turns affect food security in many ways
- What are the biggest problems with water?
overflow of water from the nearby canal and over raining flooding our fields are our major problems related to water.
- What was the biggest problem you had in terms of climate and how did you solve it?
In my memory, I never had any that big problem due to climate.
- Is there a way to save water in agriculture? If yes how?
The best way is to purpose watering with drip irrigation and avoid spraying water into the air.
- Is it difficult to get the water needed to water the plantation?
No, we don't have any problem getting the water required for watering the plant. the pond and the vellayani lake nearby is providing me with enough water to irrigate my field.
Thanks for all your cooperation.

Hello everyone
First of all we asked Ms. Mittelholzer, if we can publish an article in the newspaper of the school. She was excited about the idea and gave us permission to do that. Unfortunately, the newspaper won't be released until spring 2020.
We asked around and found out, that Mr. Steuble is one of the owners of the wkvw Instagram-account. In the next week, we want to contact Mr. Steuble about a collaberation of our account and the one from wkvw.
We are planning to contact the secretary and ask them, if we they can hang up a Poster or something similar to promote our Instagram-account and the projects of the class. We want to do that within a week.
At the moment we have 29 followers on Instagram and our goal is to reach 200 followers until Christmas.
We will do from to time some posts about the projects of our projects.
We already started rating the posts of our classmates about their projects. We want to continue doing this regularly.
The next post will be an advertisement for our Instagram-account.
As you can see, we set up a lot of Goals and we will try our best to reach them.
Deia and Rezon
Hi
Here are our goals for this lesson:
First we are going to inform Elizabeth from india, about our idea.
Then we are going to plan our visit in a chocolate factory.
Subsequently, we are going to search general information about the consumption of chocolate in switzerland.
Here our results:
We informed Elizabeth, about our idea and now we are waiting for her response.
We found a chocolate factory in Hinwil (called Schoggihüsli), which we visit next Friday for some information and pictures.
What we found out about the consumption of chocolate in switerland:
The brands Nestlé, Lindt and Sprüngli are in the top seven of the world's biggest producer of chocolate. Switzerland has the highest consumption of chocolate with about eleven kg per person in one year.
According to Chocosuisse, in 2016, 185,639 tonnes of Swiss chocolate were sold worldwide. This generated more than 1,764 million Swiss francs.
Each fruit contains 40 to 50 beans. This is the amount of beans which are needed to make a bar of chocolate.
Best regards,
Shana & Rahel

- We start to write a text with the informations we collected over the last weeks.
- We will talk to Ms. Suter to share our experience till yet.
- Search an other team with a similar topic so we can share our experience.
- Find out more about food-waste in supermarkets.

Calculation of income
We want to find out how much government revenue can be genarated by legalizing cannabis. In Switzerland we consume 60 tonnes of cannabis per year. One gramm costs about 10 francs.
60 t = 60'000'000 g
60'000'000 g x 10 francs = 600 Milion francs
When cannabis would be legal, the state could charge a tax and invest each year in environmental protection. With already 20 percent they woud have 120 Millions per year to invest.
Street Survey
What do the people think of cannabis and would they legalize it.
What do the people think where this money should be invested in? Is it environmental protection or drug prevention.
Ask further questions on this topic.
Production of hemp
Find out the costs of the hemp production by vistiting a plantation:
- water
- electicity
- fertilizer
- general costs (wage , rent, salaries and security for plentation)
We want to visit the company BioCan. BioCan is Switzerland's largest producer of legal hemp. We will write an email and ask if we can come for a visit and an Interview.

Investments in environmental protection
- solar energy
Currently, the photovoltaic prices are on averge 1'500 francs per kWp. For one average photovoltic system for a single-family dwelling costs in the purchase of less than 8'000 francs. The state could start by purchesing and installing these sytems on the roofs of the houses owned by the state.
- find other ways to invest the money, for example in wind energy, electic cars and planting trees.
Collaboration
If you read this article and and you are still looking for a collaboration don't hesitate contacting us.

Unfortunately my partner isn't around, he is sick. But I talked a bit to him about our next steps.
Today, I'm going to find out how much better vegetarian food is better for our planet and if it is really better. Im not sure if i'm going to to a survey or ask people on the streets what their opinion about the meet production and their effect on our earth is and more stuff like that. I want to prepare something.
