Goal for today

We made an interview last week and now we can write it down, translate it and bring it in form. The Goal is to bring the whole interview in form. Sharon is sick so I will work alone today.

End of the lesson: I translated the whole interview today and the whole interview is now in form. I made some new researches to find new inputs for our final post on dontwastemyenergy.

Goals for today - Green walls for a green city!

Today our aim is to write on part two of our publication on dontwastemy.energy.

Part two will be About the effect green walls have on their surroundings. We will do some researche About the Impacts on human beings and on the environement.

Moreover we will review our interview Question as we can do it next week. We are Looking Forward to learn more About green walls at the interview with the architect Mr. Urben.

We will update this post at the end of the lessons with our todays results.

Futur imagination

We wish the food waste problem in 100 years would be resolved completely. It would be great if the food could be distributed evenly in the world to cure world hunger and stop the huge amount of food waste. In an ideal situation the world would use its food recources wisely and without harming the enviroment and the animals. This way global warming can be fought and hopefully resolved. We hope that people will change their minds and care more about their habit about food.

In terms of concepts on how we imagine the relisation of no food waste we have a couple of ideas:

  • stores and restaurants should be obligated to give away the food for free or discounted for the less fortunate
  • there should be fees for food waste in private households. We imagine that the food has to be thrown away seprately and is weighed. Depending on the weight of the food waste a fee is calculated. This money could be used to invest into the climate emergency.
  • food which can be stored for a longer period of time should be cheaper to motivate people to buy food smarter
  • the expiration dates should be calculatede more accurately
  • YouTubers who eat 3000 gramms of pasta just for clickbait should be charged with a fee and it should be forbidden

We would love to see these changes in the future... let's see if our wishes come true!

Best wishes, Aìna and Melisa

Imagination in 100 Years

Hey!
Today we asked ourselves the question how the maritime transportation in 100 years looks like.

we think the ships are not going to get bigger, because in the ports and canals (Suez and Panama canal) it would be tight for maneuvers. However, we believe that the ships will be using more sustainable fuel. Thus could be dispensed with heavy oils.

We could imagine that goods would also change because the world will continue to develop and become more interconnected during this time.

The fact that the sea level will rise rapidly in the next few years, we can assume that the increased water, new trade routes for shipping arise.

Even the autonomous driving on the oceans could be or become an issue. However, it might be difficult to give the necessary security. When the barges are so alone on the oceans, they are as lost as they are.

04.12.2019 | Our goals for this lesson of T&U

What are your today's goals? Who is responsible?

  • This post, definition of our goals for this lesson (Simone)
  • Do the imagination-step (Stefanie)
  • Answering e-mails
    • to our teammate from India (Stefanie)
    • to Strickhof, Lindau (Tamara)
  • Typewrite questions 1 to 5 of the interview we made with a local farmer (Simone)
  • Finalize questions for the survey we have planned (Tamara)

At the end of the lesson we will check if we reached our goals:

Goal achieved
Goal not achieved -> we achieved every goal! :-)

Step 1 - Imagination: Local Product

Our ideas work like a "multiplicator-effect" as they go hand in hand..

In our future, there will be more local production raised everywhere in Switzerland, hence, short paths of distribution will be given. Therefore, also direct purchase from farmer to clients will be more promoted than today. Encouraging national products - swiss apples - incstead of imports, will not only help increasing the amount of growing apples but also gross domestic product (GDP/BIP).
