Food App

With the data from the app we could find out:

  • How many animal products are consumed
  • How many milk products are consume
  • Which countries consume the most meat
  • How much local food is consumed
  • How much global food is consumed
  • Is the food mostly organic or not organic
  • How different are the food habits of females and males
  • How different are the eating habits between the countries
  • What is the most consumed food

We have some improvement ideas:

  • There should be a box where you can choose if you eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snack.
  •  You should be able to choose your gender. with this extra data we could also make researches of the different eating habits from women and man

Ideas for possible projects about the food consumption app

The task was to think about possible ideas for a Project about our food consumption. We thought that the following ideas would be very interesting:

- Diffrences between the eating habits of the cultures (mealtimes)
- Who is eating the most fastfood and who is eating healthy?
- Which culture eats seasonal and organic?
- Is the most consumed Food either global or local?
- How much meat is consumed in one day?
- Which kind of meat is the most consumed?
- How many meals are vegetarian?

We are looking forward to the projects!

My food calculations

Our task was to take a closer look at a daily meal and to calculate: kcal, kJ and kWh.

I was in Asia and tried Dumplings. 1 dumpling is around 100g and has:

521 kcal

2181 kJ

0.605923 kWh

Additionally, I had 1 Glass around 200ml of coca cola, the calories are mentioned below:

84 kcal

360 kJ

0.41868 kWh

It was very fascinating to see how much calories we eat during one day. Of course, it is hard to say how much calories the dumplings have, because they were hand made.

I made the calculations with the following link:

Eating habits and calculation of kj to kwh

For our homework we had the task to list what we ate and calculate the kj to kwh.

Because I know how hard it is to lose weight after gaining it (yes, eating is much funnier;) ), I listed up some meals within one day. To show others and specially myself, that everyone can reach his goals if one is willing to.

I invite you to take a look on my little chart here:

How much energy is in my food?

Our task was to calculate how much energy is in our food (kcal, kJ and kWh). I thought I would capture my brunch that I had on sunday. There are many different things so I thought this would be interesting.

What did I eat?

Egg - Tomato - Chillie - Sauce 120 kcal, 502 kJ, 0.1395 kWh

Hummus, 82kcal, 343 kJ, 0.09536 kWh,

Olives, 71 kcal,301 kJ, 0.08257 kWh

Tomato -cucumber -feta Salad, 75 kcal, 314 kJ, 0.087225 kWh

fruit salad, 26 kcal, 108 kJ, 0.03023 kWh

organic greek yogurt, 65 kcal, 272 kJ, 0.07559 kWh

whole grain bread, 52 kcal, 217 kJ, 0.060476 kWh

In total the food had 491 kcal, 2055 kJ, 0.571033 kWh

The food was very delicious and healthy, everything was homemade! If you want to eat good and fresh breakfast / brunch I would recommend the café bebek in Zurich. The food is mostly organic and local. Here the link so you can get a little taste http://bebek.ch/entry/ .

If you are interestet in power food here is a good article where you can see which food gives you a lot of energy.

Verbesserungsvorschläge:

  • Record a voice comment is not necessary.
  • Question are not clear: Unklar, dass die Fragen mit dem Bild zu tun haben!
  • Ortsangabe überflüssig
  • you know where you bought it (Migros, Coop etc.) but you don’t know where the food come from: Ist es ethisch/ökologisch hergestellt worden?

How much energy is in my meal?

Our task was to take a closer look at a daily meal and to show the following three units of measurement: kcal, kJ and kWh.

On weekends I like to go out for breakfast.
So I took this as an example.

croissants: 171 kcal / 715.464 kJ / 0.19874 kWh

1/2 baguette: 149 kcal / 623.416 kJ / 0.1731711111 kWh

50g jam: 72 kcal / 301.248 kJ / 0.08368 kWh

3dl orange juice: 135 kcal / 564.84 kJ / 0.1569 kWh

For my calculations from kcal into kJ and kWh I used this online calculator, which is quite good in my opinion.

Energycalculation from my workout and my food / Homework 18.09.19

For our homework we had the task to calculate energy from kJ to kWh.

Since a few years I am very interested in sports but also nutrition. For me it is very important to keep myself fit and nourish my body with the food that it needs.

Therefore, I’ve decided to calculate the energy which I burn during my workout and the food that I eat afterwards.

On Monday evening I went to my CrossFit lesson which’s load time was 30 minutes - total endurance 1 hour. My Garmin watch counted a total consumption of 320 calories during the workout.

Afterwards, I ate broccoli, spatzli and smoked tofu for dinner. The dish had a total calories of 380.

To calculate the calories of my food I use the app myfitnesspal and to convert the calories to KJ and kWh I’ve used this website.

I burned:

320 kilo calories (kcal) - which is 1339.776 kilojoules (kJ) - which is 0.37216 kilowatthours (kWh)

I ate:

380 kilo calories kcal - which is 1590.984 kilojoules (kJ) - which is 0.44194 kilowatthours (kWh)

I’ve decided to make the comparison of food burned and food eaten because I think it’s very interesting to see, how much energy we need during a workout in relation to the food that we eat.

If you want to learn more about energy and food I suggest you this interesting article

My Food - My Energy: How much energy has my food?

How many energy produce my dish?

I want to know how much energy is in a normal daily meal of mine. So I calculated all the kilocalories of my dish, which I ate yestaerday. I ate approximately 300 gramm of spaghetti with sauce bolognese. But how much energy give this dish to me? This is what i wanted to know. Therefore I count the gramm of spaghetti I ate and the amount of gramm of the sauce. How I calculated the kilowatthours you can find later in the text.

Calculation

In totale I consumed 1241 (kcal). I calculated this data in joule 5192344. After that step I calculated it into kilowatthours (1.44778). I used this website to do the task. (Umrechnung.org, 17.09.19).
