Energy calculation from a cup of cereals

Hi there

As Homework we had to calculate the kj to kwh from a meal.
Every morning I eat a cup of cereals. So I decided to take a cup of cereals as an example.

So 100 g of Kelloggs Cornflakes has about 372 kcal.

Calculation:
1 kcal  =  4.1868 kJ  =  0.001163 kWh
372 kcal = 1557.50 kJ = 0.432636 kWh

For the calculation I used the following link: calculation kJ and kWh

Short version is better

Verbesserungsvorschläge:

  • Record a voice comment is not necessary.
  • Question are not clear: Unklar, dass die Fragen mit dem Bild zu tun haben!
  • Ortsangabe überflüssig
  • you know where you bought it (Migros, Coop etc.) but you don’t know where the food come from: Ist es ethisch/ökologisch hergestellt worden?

my food - my energy

Hello everybody!

I want to show you an example how to calculate a portion spaghetti bolognese from kcal to KJ and from kcal to kWh:

Here the calculation:

kcal to KJ
0.239 kcal : 1 KJ x 171 kcal = 715.481 KJ

kcal to kWh
0.00116 kWh : 1 kcal x 171 kcal = 0.19874 kWh

So now, have fun with calculating your example! :)

my food, my energy

Here is my example, how to calculate kcal to kWh and kJ, on an everyday Food.

1 portion rice witch vegetables:

calculation:

313 kcal * 4.19 kJ = 1311.47 kJ

313 kcal / 860 kcal = 0.363953488 kWh

For the calculations i used the following link:

Units of energy and calculation

I wanted to know, how I can convert kcal (kilocalories) or even kJ (kilojoules) to kWh (kilowatt-hours).

To calculate this, I created an Excel-file with the units of energy and below my calculations with two products, which I usually eat for breakfast.

Improvements for Food App Prototype 1 & 2

For both prototypes:

1. Where is the draft saved? Have the rights to save the draft local on our Computer.

2. It's not so creative. Create the app more interessting for example with a nice design.

3. More precise Questions.

Prototype 1 (long):

1. The map isn't working well.

Verbesserungsvorschläge App: What do I eat or drink?

Team: Selina, Lisa, David, Shana

Food App Prototype 1 & 2

Improvements:

Prototype 1

The Question „Where did you buy it?“ is not completly clear. From where do you have to take the information of the height and the precision. Our group think that this question is not necessary!

We don‘t understand why we have to upload a voice comment. Why is it important?

Prototype 2

The voice comment is also in this version not necessary.

Conclusion:

Our opinion is that the short version is much better than version 1. It‘s easier to understand and it goes faster to register a new product.
